Adding alt text in Instagram

Adding alt text via the iOS app

  1. Tap the plus icon to add an image.
  2. Take a photo or select an image.
  3. Tap Next to add filters or adjust the image.
  4. Tap Next to add a caption.
  5. Scroll down and tap Advanced settings.
  6. Under the Accessibility heading, tap Write Alt Text.
  7. Add the image description and tap Done.
  8. Tap the < icon at the top left to return to the share screen.
  9. Tap Share to post your image.

Adding alt text via the Android app

  1. Tap the plus icon to add an image.
  2. Take a photo or select an image.
  3. Tap -> to add filters or adjust the image.
  4. Tap -> to add a caption.
  5. Scroll down and tap Advanced settings.
  6. Under the Accessibility heading, tap Write Alt Text.
  7. Add the image description and tap ✔️.
  8. Tap Share to post your image.

Adding alt text via web browser

  1. Click + Create to select an image to upload.
  2. Click Next to add filters or adjust the image.
  3. Click Next to add a caption.
  4. Click Accessibility.
  5. In the text box, write the image description.
  6. Click Share to post your image.
